Ted Drewes

A summertime staple in Saint Louis - Ted Drewes frozen custard. Sage and Kai had their first taste this year!

Summer - Slip, Sliding Away!

I can't believe it's already the end of July! I apologize for not updating the blog lately. For some strange reason, I feel like I have less free time now than I do during the school year. Perhaps, it's because we have been so busy this summer.

Sage and I enjoyed the 3rd of July at Goose Creek. Sage spent the better part of the afternoon napping in the lake (see picture).

Then, Sage and I met Kai, Grandma, PaPa, Adam, Melissa, Ella, and Kai downtown to see the fireworks. Kai Bear had spent the day at his first Cardinals game with the family, so he slept through the whole fireworks display. Sage and Ella, on the other hand, were simply amazed! The looks on their little faces were worth waiting in the heat and fighting the crowds.

We recently spent a weekend in Kirksville celebrating Ella's 5th birthday and Adam's 30th. It was nice to be able to spend an extended amount of time with the family. We moved beyond the "general pleasantries" and had real conversations. The kids had lots of bonding time playing princess and dragons with Jon, Adam, and PaPa being the mean dragons!

Last weekend, Keisha was in town and we spent most of the weekend celebrating Jared and Justin's birthday. Most of the Kelly family was there - so that was fun. Sage spent hours in the pool - swimming away - going down the slide by himself, jumping in without help, and learning to spin in circles. Sage and Kai loved spending time with Aunt Keisha or as Sage says, "Kesa." I think Keisha probably misses them already. =( We definitely miss her!

In between the big weekend events, the boys and I have spent many mornings playing at the Botanical Gardens (still our fave place), Monkey Joe's (when it's too hot to be outside), and various other parks and playgrounds. After lunch, it's naptime! Yay! I try to use at least one naptime a week to be "productive." But, honestly, I have been enjoying my own naps as much the boys! Not to mention all the books I've finally had time to read.

Unfortunately, the countdown is on...
Even though I have been working most of the summer in some capacity or other, my first official day back at work is less than two weeks away. Boo! Am I dreaming to think we will win the PowerBall between now and then??? Yes, I love my job, but I love my boys more (all three of them). It's been so nice to spend time with Sage and Kai, but also to enjoy more time with Jared.

This picture is too cute. The three amigos - watching cartoons on a lazy morning at the lake house. Sage and Noah were holding hands. At first, when Sage took Noah's hand, Noah was like, "I'm not so sure about this..." But, then, he went with it. It was a real bonding weekend for the Cline/Kelly boys.
