Balloon Glow 2012

One of our favorite family events in St. Louis is the annual Balloon Glow.  This year, Justin, Cora, and Parker joined us for a great time in Forest Park.

Sage, Kai, and I went back the next day to watch the balloon race.  Here we are at Turtle Park enjoying the view.

New Rides

The boys both received new bikes for their birthdays.  They were SO excited because they are big boy bikes with  two wheels.  Here they are trying out their new rides.

Happy Birthday, Sage!

Happy 4th birthday to Sage!  At 4, Sage is so fun and funny!  He is curious and thoughtful and asks lots of questions.  We are amazed at the things he says and all he knows.  Sage is a little sponge.  He's always listening, observing, and learning and has a fantastic memory.  We have to be careful what we say and do around him because we never know when he's going to repeat what we say!  Oh, and he loves to be the boss especially of his little brother.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Kai!

Happy 3rd birthday to our little Kai bear!  At age 3, Kai is just amazing.  He is super sweet and always shows love and affection to his friends and family.  He loves music and dancing and is known to break out in song and dance at any time!  He loves to "shake his booty."  Kai is a natural athlete and loves all sports and has amazing hand-eye coordination too.  Happy birthday!

"The Lion King"

Kai and I enjoyed a special night at the Fox Theater to see "The Lion King."  Kai absolutely loved it!  Every time the characters stopped singing to talk he would ask, "Why aren't they singing?"  Also, when the audience clapped after every song, Kai asked, "Is it over?"  Even though it was an 8:00pm show and didn't end until nearly 11pm, he stayed awake the whole time and even made me stay for the curtain call!

The Color Run

Our first family 5K run/walk was The Color Run!  Everyone dresses in white and gets doused in color throughout the race.  It was so much fun!

You'll Hurt the Rock!

A few weeks ago, I was putting lotion on Kai after his bath.  It looked like he had a booger in his nose.  I went to wipe it away.  Kai yells, "NO! You'll hurt the rock!"

I say, "What rock?!"

Kai says, "The rock in my nose."

I look.  Sure enough, there is a rock in his nose.  I asked Kai where the rock came from.

"I put it in there on the playground," he replies.

"Playground?" I say.  Hmmmm.  It was a hot day that day and I knew that they didn't go out to the playground that afternoon, so he must have put the rock in his nose during morning recess.  The conversation continues and I realize that he didn't tell Ms. Tricia because he thought he would get in trouble.  I wonder how long he would've been quiet about it had I not noticed it after bath time.

Anyway, I tried to take the rock out with my fingers and it wouldn't come out.  I started to panic a little knowing that it was 7:30 pm and Urgent Care closes at 8:00 pm.  I was throwing on some shoes and just about to head out the door when I remembered where I put my tweezers.  I tried again with the tweezers and after two or three tries...voila...the rock...

Back to School 2012

The boys and I started back at school on Monday.  They are still going to Tower Grove Christian Preschool, but they both have new teachers. Kai's teacher is the beloved Ms. Tricia (Sage's teacher last year). Sage has Ms. Jackie and he will be a penguin.  Monday's drop off went relatively smoothly compared to last year. Surprisingly, it was Kai who was rather reluctant to return to school. He wanted to "stay home with Momma."  Awwww! Broke my heart a bit. But, Ms. Tricia scooped Kai up and let me go on my way. Sage went without a peep. He saw a friend who have him a hug and took him by the hand and off they went. Too easy!

Day 2 was not as easy though. Sage was much more reluctant. I had to have a chat with him about being brave. Used myself as an example since I'm starting a new job at a new school this year too.
