Soulard Pet Parade

Today, we enjoyed our first experience at Soulard's Pet Parade. It's an annual tradition and part of the Mardi Gras celebrations. Apparently, it's the largest pet parade in the country. And, because it was a sunny, 65 degree day in January, it was probably bigger than ever! We had brunch and cake to celebrate the first birthday of my friend's son. Then, the party moved down the street to the parade route. We were surrounded by pets - dogs, turtles, ponies, and even a dinosaur! Sage and Kai had fun collecting beads and candy. It was a great way to spend the day with family and friends.

Waiting for more pets and beads!

The pet dinosaur!

Look at all those beads around Kai's neck!

Snow Day!!!

Last night, the boys and I did a snow day dance and they turned their pajamas inside out in hopes of a snow day. It worked! We enjoyed the day sledding and snuggling.

Best Buddies?

People always ask me if the boys are best buddies or if they fight. I always say both. They play really well together and are definitely best buddies. But, about every 10-15 minutes, a fight breaks out. Fortunately, the fights are really more like short outbursts and they are quick to make up.

Here's an exchange between the two that just happened:
They're playing a video game together...
K: (out of the blue) Sage, you're my best friend and I love you.
S: Ok
10 seconds pass (something happens while they're playing)
K: Saaage! Why did you do that?!! (Angry and stomps off)
S: It's not my fault!!!
K: I take back what I said!!
Both come to us to mediate the situation and 60 seconds later they're hugging it out, playing together and laughing again.
