2025 - A Year in Review

Well, since I've been so awful about updating the blog as events occur, I guess I'm left with only one option and that is to do a year in review. Brace yourself for an onslaught of pictures and captions to mark another year of adventures and achievements for the Kelly boys!

January 2025 was filled with fun starting with a few extra days of winter break thanks to Winter Storm Blair that dropped ice and snow. It made for fun on the hills in the neighborhood and at Queeny though!

February brought lots of basketball as Kai was a leading scorer on his freshmen team at West. We enjoyed watching him excel on the court. We also spent time with family and friends.

Sage and Kai earned another Spirit of Excellence Award and debuted in the promo video for the event.

In March, Sage went on another HBCU trip to Florida and Atlanta while Kai and I enjoyed some down time in St. Louis. Kai did lots of driving practice.

April brought track meets for Sage as well as his first half marathon!
We celebrated Easter with an egg hunt.

Sage placed 8th in his age division in his first half marathon!

In May, Kai landed his first job at Pickleman's Cafe.

Sage continued to be a leader in the district ushering in the next cohort of LEAD graduates.

The boys created a magical Mother's Day with homemade crepes and pizza and lots of special touches.

The boys were honored with lots of awards at West's annual ceremony.

And, we celebrated the last day of school. Sage ended his sophomore year and Kai ended his freshmen year - both with straight As in lots of honors and AP classes. They made new friends and both played two sports. I am so incredibly proud of their accomplishments AND the fact that they are just really amazing, kind human beings.

June, oh sweet summer! The boys stayed busy with lots of camps (cross country, basketball, football, and marching band) while I enjoyed some down time. We also had an amazing time at the Kendrick Lamar and Sza concert! So much fun!

We celebrated Noah's high school graduation with a Cardinals Game!

After an amazing vacation at the end of June (see separate post), we had a blast soaking up the summer in July. Sage's marching band played at the Cardinals game.

Sage landed a job at Smoothie King!

We celebrated Jared's birthday!

Spent some time at the lake. Yay!

And, had an absolute blast at the Savannah Bananas game!

The boys did a little work too. Here they are working on summer school assignments.

I even talked them into going to the zoo!

In August, the boys helped with some home improvement projects.

Celebrated Papa's birthday

Shored up on driving skills including in the rain

Celebrated the 1st day of School - sophomore and junior years

Celebrated Kai Bear's 16th Birthday!

At Red and Blue Night...

Participated in Mom's football camp

partied at the Festival of Nations at Tower Grove Park

and celebrated Kai Bear some more!

Kai passed his driving test and became a licensed driver!

September and October are the busy season in the Kelly household with birthdays, band, cross country, football, and back to school business.

Happy 17th Birthday, Sagey!

Kai Bear missed homecoming because he was sick this year.

Illness and a knee injury had Kai sidelined for much of the football season.
But he was always there supporting his teammates.

Adding this in here as Grandma and I participated in the LARGEST single day protest in American history. No Kings.

Sage was invited to be a guest speaker at a conference in Columbia! He was amazing and I was beaming with pride as I listened to him speak.

We made it back in time for Halloween fun!

Sage also won his third Best of Sno award!  That's wild!

We saw the Northern Lights at Queeny Park! And got pulled over by the Park Ranger. Oops!

Kai's varsity football team made it to districts and came in 2nd place!

Basketball season started again!
We loved playing games with Granny at Thanksgiving!

And then, it snowed six inches! So, the Cline/Kelly Thanksgiving was delayed.
celebrated Kai at his football banquet

Sage studied for the ACT. His first official time and he scored a whopping 35! Wow!
Saw Santa at the zoo while celebrating Charlotte's birthday!

and the boys finally met their new cousin, Nasari Kelly! What a great way to end the year!
