Sage’s Spirit of Excellence Ceremony

Last night we celebrated Sage as he walked across the stage to receive the Spirit of Excellence award. It’s an award that celebrates the academic success of African American students in Parkway. He was one of over 570 students honored at an incredible celebration. There were praise dancers, drummers, and step teams in between the students walking across the stage. It was an awesome night!

Here’s Sage with friends from his class: Yusuf, Jordan, Zaynah, Payton, and Haley

Throwback Thursday - “What It Do?”

“What it do?” was of our favorite sayings from Sage when he was little. He asked, “What it do?” when he was curious how something worked (which was ALL the time). He also asked, “What it do?” when Kai would cry or get in trouble.

Check Out This Smile!

Sage had his braces removed today! It’s been a long year of extra teeth cleaning, no popcorn, and no sticky candies. To celebrate, we had a popcorn and candy party.
Check out his beautiful new smile!

Throwback Thursday

Here’s to Sage’s Thomas the Train obsession when he was younger. We always got a good laugh out of how he pronounced Percy.

San Diego

Over winter break, we took a family vacation to sunny, Southern California. We had an amazing time exploring the area and staying in Cardiff by the Sea/Encinitas. It was awesome! Here are some video highlights from our trip.

“Elfis and the Frozen Princess” Kai’s 2nd Grade Musical

Kai had a starring role as King CoppenHaggenDassen in the 2nd grade musical, “Elfis and the Frozen Princess.” He had a lot of lines to memorize and the best costume! He did a wonderful job! We are so very proud of all the hard work he put into the show.

Spelling Bee Champ!

We are immensely proud of Sage. A few weeks ago, he won his class spelling bee with the word “enormous.” He’s an excellent speller, so we weren’t surprised. We were surprised, however, when Sage told us he did not want to be in the school spelling bee to represent his class. He said he was, “scared to be in front of the whole school and mess up.” We had a long talk and Jared reminded Sage that the only way to overcome your fears is to face them. So, Sage agreed to be in the school spelling bee.

Last week was the school bee and Sage did great! He made it to the 6th round and was the last third grader left. He incorrectly spelled the word “residential.” But, he handled it with grace and poise. He was so brave and we are so very proud!

Halloween 2017

Here are some pictures from our Halloween fun. Sage was a blue ninja and matched one of his best buddies, Tyson. Kai was a red ninja by day and a creepy zombie by night. Parker and Quinn were rainbow unicorns. So cute!
